Channel One deal with French Telecom subsidiary

Channel One MTV, the English TV channel owned by Capital Maharaja Media Network, recently concluded a deal with France Telecom subsidiary Globecast to introduce the latest media transfer technology to Sri Lanka.

Group Director for Capital Maharaja Mano Wikramanayake, in a statement, said that the Globecast product, Smart Jog gives users access to entertainment content directly from the source and allows MTV channels to receive and view content effortlessly through the Smart Jog network.

This would mean MTV would have exclusive, immediate and seamless access to the programming out of Hollywood studios such as CBS-Paramount, Fox and Disney.

“Smart Jog technology is unique on the market: secure, reliable, scalable, open, turn-key.

It is the result of our strategy to continuously invest in convergence and expertise across our four major domains: information technologies, data transmission, web applications and broadcast services,” noted Chevaan Daniel, Channel Head for MTV. Channel One MTV will begin transferring its flagship Hollywood programming via Smart Jog within the next few weeks, having successfully completed test transfers.
