Rupavahini celebrates Awurudhu Udanaya

Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation celebrates Sinhala and Tamil New Year in three locations of Rupavahini premises, Weeraketiya and Tangalle.

The celebration will start with a procession of 'Awurudhu Kumaraya' leaving Rupavahini at Independence Square. The fleet of vehicles would stop at different destinations in Bentara, Galle, Matara and Tangalle and gifts will be distributed in addition to participating at different Awurudu Charithra (traditions).

Starting with swimming at Weeraketiya at 8 am on April 12 the traditional New Year games will be held throughout April 12 and 13. Other New Year games will be held in Kadolana, Godigamuwa which would follow a mega musical show. On April 14, New year customs and cultural events will be held at the same venue.
