Denuwan – pride of Wesley

After 137 years Wesley won the All-Island Under-13 (Div. One) school cricket league championship. The team was led by Denuwan Dassanayake a stylish wicket-keeper batsman. This was achieved for Wesley in year 2006. It was a great team effort.
Batting at No. 4 slot, Denuwan is also an acrobatic ‘Russel Hamer’ type wicket keeper. Duribng the season he had 18 stumps and five caught behind. He was also a member of the Prima under-13, champion District team, Colombo North. He has a best score of 114 n.o., against Colombo South.
Leads schools team
He has been appointed to captain the Sri Lanka schools Under-14 team to Malaysia on a ten-day tour. The team left on April 19. The team: D. Dassanayake (Wesley Capt.), A.
