Soccer star vs. woman
The French movie A Major Inconvenience (Un dérangement considerable) is an interesting tale about a young soccer star of a small town whose career is about to fall apart after he a meets woman double his age.
The film with English subtitles is to be screened on Tuesday April 24 at 3.00 pm and Wednesday, April 25 at 6.30 pm at Alliance Francaise Barnes Place, Colombo-7.
Bernard Stora directs this coming-of-age drama about a single-minded soccer player sidetracked by love. Laurant (Jalil Lespert) lives in a crowded little abode with his mother, a pair of half-brothers, and an Arabic-speaking grandmother. Laurent's soccer-playing prowess has garnered the attention of scouts from a professional team in Nantes. Believing that sex only distracts an athlete's focus, he has never bothered much with girls until he meets Fabienne (Mireille Perrier), the single mother of one of his mates.
Written by Bernard Stora the film is produced by Annie Miller. Awarded the Golden Pyramid for the Best screenplay at Cairo International Film Festival, the film won several international awards.
