Gods will bless my son and team – Dunstan Jayasuriya

There were times when Sanath stayed to score a hundred or maybe more, but sometimes he won’t stay for more than half an hour. “But that’s what people like about him. When ever he walks on to the pitch, people stare with hesitancy as to whether he’ll play the role of Master Blaster or not”, Chandana Jayasuriya, the brother of the Master Blaster said. “And I know that I won’t be able to make a single move during the match”, Dunstan Jayasuriya, Sanath’s father said.

“May all the Gods protect my son and the team”, Sanath’s mother, Breeda Jayasuriya said whole heartedly. Sanath’s family said that the whole country will keep their fingers crossed throughout the match hoping he will score well and take wickets. “We are proud of malli. We are doing a bodhi pooja too in Matara. Malli has a lot of faith in them”, Chandana said.

“I especially thought of doing bodhi pooja because nothing can match the blessings given by the mother”, mother of Sana Boy said.
Some people say that nothing in a match is as interesting as Sanath scoring a century. “That’s because of his style of batting. That had made him an interesting player”, added Chandana.“We too are playing the match sitting in front of the TV”, said the father while his wife added, “There was a time I couldn’t sit in front of the TV and watch the match if Sanath was playing. But now I do”.

“We told him not to take any pressure other than what was necessary. He has the feeling that as a senior player, he has a responsibility to perform his best. And he knows that people expect it from him as well. Other than that he is quite used to the pressure of the match”, Chandana Jayasuriya added saying that he could feel his brother’s heart pulse. “But we don’t think he takes what the opposition team tells about him seriously”, he added commenting about the statements made by Australian Captain Ricky Ponting. “We think that this team is as good as the team that played in 1996. But the difference is that the batting side was good in 1996 whereas in this team, the bowling side is better”.
