Creata brings the first Tamil miniplay with muppets

Creata the only muppet TV production house in Sri Lanka presents a gift to the Tamil audience 'Nakarakku Wandha Karadi' (The Bear has returned to the village) and it is to be telecast soon.

Based on the Sri Lankan children's book in Tamil written by Sudaraj the script for the miniplay is written by Mawil Sathyakumar and Mawai Warodiayan and the songs are written by Sridhar Pichchaiyappa.

It is a teledrama with muppets and live characters. The programme is to be telecast on Channel Eye. The programme is to highlight environmental pollution and other social issues presented in an Humourous manner.

The story revolves around a bear who has dreams of coming to the city. Once he comes he realizes that he was wrong in thinking that the city is better. The food in the town is spoiled and full of chemicals. He also finds out that children are more humane than the adults.

Speaking on the programme Palitha Luxman Perera the head of 'Creata' says "Though Tamils constitute 17% of the population out of twelve channels there are only two channels catering to them".

"There is a lack of Tamil productions done here. While programmes are being imported from India the Tamil artistes here just keep quiet without getting involved in any work," he said.

"There is a demand for Tamil directions which no TV station has focused on so far,". The 'Creata' is searching for more actors and actors to play in the future episodes of the drama. Children (preferably boys) aged twelve and thirteen years and adults of any nationality but able to converse in Tamil are invited to send their applications to its address 'Crearta', 18/1, Main Street, Battaramulla.
