building with Italian aid

The new wing of the Nilaveli hospital, which was damaged in the 2004 tsunami, was opened on Wednesday in the presence of a high-powered Government delegation led by Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa.
Italian Carife Foundation president Sergio Lensi and Salesian Vice Province Don Bosco Sri Lanka Superior Rev.Fr.Anthony H. Pinto jointly declared open the wing.
The new wing was constructed at a cost of Rs. 18.5 million provided by the Volontario Internazionale per lo Suviluppo-Rome Italy (VIS) with the support of Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara Foundation-Ferrara Italy.
The Government team comprised Ministers Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, Abdul Majeed Najeeb, Susantha Punchinilame and Deputy Minister Vadivel Suresh. Eastern Province Council officials led by Governor Mohan Wijewickrema and Government Agent T.T.R.De Siva also attended the event. |
