‘Sikuru Hathe’ ready for release in August

‘Sikuru Hathe’, the maiden directorial venture of actor Giriraj Kaushalya will be ready for release in August at Savoy Cinema Colombo and other EAP circuit cinemas around the country.

‘The filming was smoothly completed with the support of everybody including the cast and crew. In fact the 22 day schedule was finished in nineteen days’ said 'Gira' the popularly known actor who has now turned film director. ‘I must be specially thankful to Mr. Anton Vanstarex, the producer and Mr. Susil Jayasekera of New Imperial Talkies who supported me throughout the pre-production period’ said the young director who came to limelight with his popular scripts for television comedies like 'Kathura' and 'Ethuma' and 'Nana Kamare'.

The film at its post-production stage will be taken to India soon.‘Sikuru Hathe’ an action comedy revolving around a Kapuwa, the traditional matchmaker who faces a dilemma in finding a partner for his own daughter. The film also highlights how this traditional profession is threatened by the new technology. The New Imperial Talkies-well-known for the distribution of foreign films enters film production with ‘Sikuru Hathe’.

Produced by Hans Anton Vanstarex for New Imperial Talkies, the stars are a talented cast including Wijaya Nandasiri, Tony Ranasinghe, Iranganie Serasinghe, Veena Jayakody, Susila Kottage, Rodney Warnakula, Anton Jude, Priyantha Seneviratne, Anaraklli Aakarssha, Hemantha Eeriyagama, Himali Sayurangi, Suraj Mapa, Lalith Janakantha, Wasantha Vittachchi, Sarath Chandrasiri, Sarath Kothelawela, Lakshmi Damayanthi, Nimini Kottegoda and Somasiri Alakolanga.

Behind the screen Giriraj was supported by Ruwan Costa as the cameraman, Tharupathy Munasinghe with the musical score and Ravindra Guruge as the editor.

Imal Shanaka Peiris handled the make up while Manoj Wickramasinghe was the art director. Newton Gunaskera is the assistant director while Jeyaprakash Sivagurunathan became the production designer with Sri Lal Wickramage joining as the production manager.
