Reference the article ‘Fathers Day Special’ I would like to comment that we Asians are ever ready to ape the western world, no matter whether it suits our culture or custom. J

ust because Sonora Dodd, an Americans lady chose to celebrate and honour her father in 1910, June 19th, and even though two Presidents have made a proclamation, it does means that we Sri Lankans should follow suit and go to town and have a Fathers Day celebrations, in large hotels.

To us, our father and mother are most precious and we respect, honour and revere them 365 days of the year, and not on a selected day. By doing this we are actually insulting them. Let us not insult them with this foolish practice.
