Kandy Hoteliers bid farewell to Suraj

Afarewell party for Suraj Perera, Secretary of Kandy Hoteliers Association(KHA) and the former General Manager of ‘Chaaya Citadel’ was arranged at the Hotel Hill Top in Kandy recently under the residentship of Raju N Veerasingham.

Mr. Veerasingham, the Resident Manager of the Grand Hotel speaking at the occasion mentioned about the yeoman service rendered by Suraj Perera for the Kandy Hoteliers Association for over 22 months. Veerasingham, mentioned that Mr. Perera was a very proactive Secretary and had carried out various duties to ensure that the Kandy Hoteliers Association went from strength to strength. He was also instrumental in arranging workshops by which the staff of Member Hotels received the benefit of these trainings.

Suraj Perera will be leaving the island to take up duties in the Republic of Maldives representing the John Keells Hotels of Sri Lanka.

Timothy Paldano, General Manager of the Tree of Life Hotel and the senior most Past President of the Kandy Hoteliers Association, made a presentation on behalf of the Kandy Hoteliers Association to Suraj Perera. Paldano also addressed the gathering before making the presentation. He too mentioned the high qualities and simple manners of Suraj Perera.

Suraj Perera briefed about his new appointment and also detailed about the John Keells involvement in the Maldives. He said that all hotels were functioning extremely well in the Maldives with very high occupancy. He wished that the present lull in tourism in Sri Lanka would turn around and that Sri Lankan hotels would also enjoy high occupancy.

The Farwell party concluded with fellowship and dinner hosted by Cyril Perera, General Manager of Hotel Hill Top, Kandy.
