Nestlé expands production capacity in Sri Lanka

Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of the President, recently visited the Nestle Lanka’s Kurunegala factory and formally commissioned a Band Dryer, part of the company’s 2007 expansion programme.
Nestlé is investing a further Rs 600 million in its Kurunegala Factory in order to expand capacity in key product areas. During her visit, Ms Rajapaksa was accompanied by Geetha Rathnayake, wife of Minister of Livestock Development C.B. Rathnayake, Dammika Yapa, wife of Minister of Mass Media and Information Anura Priyadarshana Yapa; and S. Karannagoda, wife of Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda. According to a Nestle press release, Ms Rajapaksa expressed deep appreciation of Nestlé’s dedication to the country’s economic development and in particular its efforts to uplift rural communities through the local sourcing of raw materials, especially fresh milk and coconuts. |
