Anura presents musical notation

Musician Anura Wanniarachchi officially handed over his second collection of musical notation of Sri Lankan songs to his guru, veteran musician and singer Professor Sanath Nandasiri, recently. The presentation of 'Gee Prasthara Shathakaya-2' - book of musical notations of one hundred songs was held at Kalawana National School amidst a large gathering.

Addressing the audience, Prof. Nandasiri, Head of Music Department of the University of Aesthetic Studies, said "Writing notations of songs is not an easy task. One should have an inborn talent for that. The book is a great boon to those who want to play correct musical notations for songs,".

The event also marked a singing competition titled 'Aradhana' organized to unearth the musical talent of amateur singers in the area.

'Gee Prasthara Shathakaya-2' prepared with a collection of notations for songs earlier published in 'Ridma' the weekly supplement issued with Sunday 'Lakbima' newspaper. The collection includes selected songs representing different styles, themes and artistes. His previous book, 'Gee Prasthara Shathakaya' was a huge success which was very much in demand among musicians and music learners. Both books were published by 'Malpiyali Publishers.
