Barking dogs and roaring engines
The Sunday Times editorial of November 11, 2007 was a welcome comment.
Yes, the blaring of horns in heavy vehicles in the night frightens people out of their sleep. So does the sound made by railway engines at signal posts when the signalmen are absent at the duty posts.
Yet another unbearable noise in the night is the howling of dogs in the various households. When a neighbour complains the angry reaction is a backlash of words such as “how can we tie the mouths of the animals?” The authorities who are drafting the law should give their minds to these aspects as well.
