Back home party for Sondra

Our cover girl Sondra Wise, who is presently on a short visit from the USA, was a well known personality in Sri Lanka some time back. Sondra was popularly known as a leading vocalist, who performed with some of the well known bands in Sri Lanka such as Ecstasy, Chandimal Fernando Trio.

She was also known in the fashion industry, when she modelled frequently for top designers in the country. She won many beauty pageants including Miss Working Girl in1988. Sondra is back in Colombo on a family commitment after nearly fifteen years.

'It is really a nice feeling to be back in Colombo even for a short holiday. Colombo is quite different and developed, than it used to be. I hope the music scene too is vibrant and moving' she added. Sondra is based in Los Angeles, USA and is now a professional hair dresser.

‘Apart from my full time work at the salon 'Fantastic Sands', I work as a Manager of two apartment buildings in LA. Besides, whenever I have free time, I sing with bands for various gigs. As a freelance singer, I can adjust myself according to my free time’ she said.

‘There are many Sri Lankan bands too and I work with them accordingly. Occasionally I meet up with Ayesha Gunesekera of ex-Dream Team’ she added. Sondra is a very popular personality with the Sri Lankan community in California and she always takes a keen role in most of the Sri Lankan events.

According to news coming our way, wedding bells will chime for Sondra in the near future and her intended husband is a well known businessman in California.
