‘Suzuran’ : A popular Japanese drama on Rupavahini
Rupavahini starts another popular Japanese teledrama serial 'Suzuran' (Return of Happiness) from 7.30 pm on Monday February 18.
The serial drama dubbed in Sinhala will be telecast in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka and will run over a period of one year. Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation also has planned to telecast "Suzuran" subtitled in Tamil over its channel "Nethra" shortly for the benefit of Tamil viewers.
"Suzuran" - Return of Happiness- is a life story of a Japanese lady named Moe, set within the social background of Japan during the period 1920 to 1990. The story takes us through the ups and downs of her life as she pursues her life's dreams to establish herself.
The drama serial was originally telecast in Japan in 1999 by NHK and became a very popular teledrama capturing viewers of all ages at an average viewer rate of 26% and a highest viewer rate of 30% which is almost one third of its population. Japan Foundation under its programme to promote Japanese TV broadcasting abroad, from among numerous proposals of international television stations worldwide, has selected Rupavahini to release this popular drama.
Similar to earlier dramas like 'Oshin', "Suzuran" will certainly become a very popular television appointment of many Sri Lankan viewers who are encouraged to view this rare 'never-to-be-missed' opportunity of a quality Japanese teledrama. |
