Funny but dark plays
 

StageLight&Magic Inc.’s theatre season Noir 2008 beginning on July 18 features nine plays by Shel Silverstein, with five plays being staged on the first weekend.

‘Wash & Dry’ directed by Sajith Amendra, takes place inside a Laundromat run by George (played by Thushara Hettihamu). Marianne (played by Ashini Fernando) walks in to collect her laundry and finds to her dismay that her clothes have not been cleaned. The next four plays of the first weekend are all directed by Marsh Dodanwela and performed by Rajinda Jayasinghe and Marsh.

They include ‘Abandon all hope’, ‘The Best Daddy’, ‘The Lifeboat is sinking’ - and ‘No dogs allowed’.
The Noir 2008 English Theatre Season takes place from July 18 – 27 at the Punchi Theatre, Borella. The main sponsor is Dialog TV and the official electronic partner YES FM with The Sunday Times and the Daily Mirror being the print media sponsors.
