As the lights shine down on 106 designs of all styles and colours, a group of young models will take the ramp, to present 'Impressions of Beauty'.
No, it is no ordinary fashion show; "It is yet another first in a series of firsts presented by Ladies’ College," says Shyamala Pinto Jayawardene, the teacher in charge of the show. Each design is the original creation of the students, who designed the outfits, cut blocks for them, added finishing touches to them, and finally picked girls to model the outfits.
Nature being one of the main inspirational themes, each design captures the essence of the beauty of the birds, butterflies, flowers, trees, cascading water, swirling seas, rushing rivers, creatures of the sea, emotions and the human form.
Impressions of Beauty will take place on July 26 at 7 p.m. at the Ladies' College Auditorium. Choreography for the show has been done by Graham Hatch, with Nadine doing the models' hair and make-up.
Tickets, priced at Rs. 1000 and 500, will be available at Ladies' College.
