Draft legislation for the implementation of a National Medicinal Drugs Policy was handed over to Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva this week.
The legislation was worked out by an 18-member National Standing Committee (NSC) comprising all stakeholders including medical professionals and a representative of the People’s Movement for the Rights of Patients (PMRP) in consultation with a senior official of the Legal Draftsman’s Department.
A spokesman for the NSC said the main purpose of the legislation would be to make quality drugs available to all the people at affordable prices. |
