US Pacific Command team meets EP Chief Minister

A delegation from the US Pacific Command led by Major General Thomas L.Conant met the EP Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan at the latter's office in the Eastern Provincial Secretariat on Friday evening.

Other members of the delegation were Lieutenant General C.Pettigrew, South Asia Country Director and Lieutenant Commander Lawrence A. Smith III, Defense Army Attaché for Sri Lanka and the Maldives in the US Embassy in Colombo. Dr.K.Vigneswaran, senior advisor to the Chief Minister and media spokesman Azad Moulana participated in the discussion which lasted for an hour.

The discussion centered on topics such as releasing child combatants and the rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced people in the eastern province due to the conflict, provincial council sources said.
