P. Padmasiri Ranaweera, a third year undergraduate of the University of Aesthetic Education, Colombo is a promising artist. His lightning pencil portraits, drawings and paintings reveal keen observation, precision and balance.

He is equally free with the medium of oil paintings as with other mediums. The Alliance française de Kandy is holding his maiden solo exhibition, which will be opened on Friday, January 23 at 6 p.m. by Prof. Athula Senaratne, of the Department of Geology, University of Peradeniya.
