Academic Director /CEO, Lanka Institute of Advanced Technology (LIAT)
Who will be among the most of benefited by the learning experience offered by the Lanka Institute of Advanced Technology?
Our Institute is mainly conducting professional courses and training programmes related to Electronic, Telecommunications and Information Technology related disciplines. There is a huge demand for job opportunities in these fields both locally and internationally. As you know, the higher education facilities in the country in these areas are very limited and as a result only a limited number of qualified professionals are coming out from the universities.
This number is inadequate to cater for the variety of job requirements available in the industry and this is one reason for us to start this type of an institute.
Furthermore, we notice a lot of talented youngsters in these disciplines are left out by the highly competitive, examination-oriented secondary education system when it comes to selection of students for tertiary level education. We must provide opportunities for those to develop themselves to the professional level and continue working in the area of their interest.
Can you please explain about the courses you are conducting and their recognition?
We are conducting lectures for City and Guilds international examinations, Council of Engineering Institutions (CEI) graduate Diploma level examinations in the field of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering Technology. These courses are internationally recognized and well reputed and those who complete these qualifications have a very good demand in the industry. We are also conducting professional Development Programmes(CPD) in the areas of Digital Satellite Communication, Optical Fiber Communication, 3G Mobile Technologies, Micro Controller Programming, Robotics and Automation. In addition we offer a range of qualifications in the Information Technology related areas such as Sun Certified Java Programming, C++, Multimedia Applications along with many application oriented courses in IT. In addition we are also conducting ICT courses for both London and Local A/L. LIAT is the only institute in Sri Lanka which is conducting such a range of combination of courses in ICT disciplines in Sri Lanka.
Are your academic courses updating with current technology?Definitely yes, we do update all our programs with changing technology. We are always changing our courses with newest technologies. Furthermore reputed courses such as CEI and City and Guilds are regularly updated in order to keep pace with the changing technologies.
We would like to know about your academic staff and their experience.
Since all of our lecturers are engineering graduates from well reputed universities and they have experience in teaching and training related to ICT industry we assure an unmatched learning experience to our students.
Are your courses fit to industry requirements and can you please explain us about the future of the students who are following above mentioned courses?
