Fast track to become a Professional Certified Management Accountant
 

The launch of the Associate Management Accountant (AMA) Designation which is an intermediate level qualification will recognise intermediate level of professional accountancy courses, HNDA fully completed and Accounting graduates with 2 years practical experience to grant AMA and provide a Fast Track to become a Professional Certified Management Accountant, by completing the CMA Final Examinations.

Criteria for Grant of AMA
AMA is given on completion of one of the following criteria.

i) Completion of the intermediate examination conducted by CMA, together with 2 years practical training
ii) ICASL Intermediate plus Advanced Management Accounting paper at CMA Intermediate Stage or ICASL Final I Management Accounting paper together with 2 years recognized practical training.
iii) CIMA Certificate Level plus Managerial Level (P1, P4 & P7) together with 2 years recognized practical training.
iv) ACCA Fundamentals (Skills plus Knowledge) totalling nine subjects together with 2 years recognized practical training.
v) The following exams conducted by ATI's of Sri Lanka Institute of Technological Education (SLIATE) together with 2 years practical training.
HNDA (fully completed)
HNDM (fully completed) + FAR paper (CMA Intermediate)
vi) Degree in Accounting (4 years) conducted by local/foreign universities together with 2 years practical training.

ADVANCEMENT TO CMA QUALIFICATION
Those who have obtained AMA qualification could sit for CMA Professional I and Professional II and obtain the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Qualification.

Those with the necessary qualifications and experience could obtain the Application Form by contacting CMA Secretariat, Ms. Shanthi on 2501062 or by sending a self addressed stamped (Rs.20/) A4 size envelope to the address below .

Those applying on or before 30th June 2009 will be given the designation Founder Associate Management Accountant (AMA) and a special function will be held to award Founder Certificates.

CMA SRI LANKA
The Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka was set up with the technical assistance of CMA Canada as the Sri Lankan Professional Management Accounting Body.
As a Sri Lankan body the Society provides opportunities for students to undertake a professional course in management accountancy at an affordable cost.

The CMA professional qualification is a course specializing in Strategic Management Accounting and Financial Accounting leading to produce Certified Professional Managers. They use financial, management and other information to direct strategic and operational decision making targeted at helping organisations move forward. The Professional Management Accountancy Examinations are structured into four levels and held twice a year in March and September.
