Marks & Spencer's Regional Office in Sri Lanka recently organised a 'Marks & Start event' aimed at improving differently- abled people's access to employment by working in partnership with their suppliers in developing countries.
"This is achieved by Marks & Spencer's Regional Office in Sri Lanka engaging suppliers to train and recruit differently-abled people to enable them to enter mainstream employment," the company said in a statement.
The programme began in Sri Lanka in 2004 and to date, 142 disabled people have been trained and recruited at Marks & Spencer's supplier factories. The company said all Marks & Start suppliers including 24 factories and about 120 beneficiaries were present at the event.
They presented plaques and certificates to M&S Suppliers and participating factories as a token of appreciation and gift packs to (funded by the participating suppliers) to the beneficiaries. |
