Musical evening to raise funds for LRH

Emergency and critical care is a life-saving facility that is crucial at the premier Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Borella, and the Friends of LRH have organized a fund-raising activity in the form of a musical evening on Friday, April 24 from 7 p.m. at the BMICH to improve these services.

The musical evening will feature Sohan and X'periments, Sunil Perera, Sohan and Yasmin, Ronnie, Corrine, Rajiv Sebastian and Ginger.

The LRH established in 1895 is one of the largest, if not the largest, children's hospitals in the world. It was built over 100 years ago and named after the wife of the colonial governor of the country at that time. Today it caters to the medical, surgical and mental needs of the children in the entire island. It is also the main training centre for undergraduate and postgraduate paediatric education in the country.

This hospital is a unique and distinctive institution staffed by exceptionally dedicated personnel and is renowned for the high quality of care provided. LRH provides in-services to over 68,000 children annually, with the outpatient department being attended by 2,500-3,000 children daily.

As the hospital needs a constant flow of funds to provide care and attention to these children, the Friends of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children was established to support it. All funds donated to this trust fund which is administered by a committee headed by the Director of LRH, are utilized for the welfare of children admitted to this hospital. The organization's patron is First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
This is an opportunity for the generous public to help save the lives of the children of Sri Lanka.

Tickets for the musical evening are available at Accident Service Reception Desk of Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Colombo 08 (Tel: 0112675372) & at the ITN Office, Bauddhaloka Mw (Buller's Rd), Colombo 07.
