‘Sakviththo’: Timely topic

‘Danduwam Mudalali’, ‘Sakvithi’ and many others who played out and defrauded moneis of thousands of people are subjects that hit the headlines of the media in the recent past.

Experienced director Wimalaratne Adhikari handles this timely issue with his latest teledrama ‘Sakviththo’ telecast every weekday at 9.05 on Rupavahini. Starting from May 26 this 100-episode teledrama is scripted by veteran dramatist and script writer K. B. Herath is played by Buddadasa Vithanarachchi, Sriyani Amerasena, Somasiri Alakolanga, Priya Ranasinghe, Deepani Silva, Chinthaka Kulatunga, Chitra Warakagoda, Pawan Kulatunga, Nadeesha Alahapperuma, Ayesha Sandamalee and many others including some veteran actors.

The story revolves around a wealthy father who is waiting for the return of his son who had gone abroad ten years ago. A shrewd young man who comes to know this deceives the father by playing out a role pretending to be his son. Freely using the wealth of the old man, the young man tries to build a business empire around him by deceiving the entire business world, the relatives of the old father, his own parents and the girl friend in the village.

The teleplay highlights the fake characters in our society who mislead an entire society and also the importance of deep relationships between parents and children.

Suminda Arunalu handled the camera in the teledrama while Pujitha Kanchana Ameratunga edited, art directed by Suneth Nandal. Produced by Dr. Asanka Abayawardena, Sakviththo’s music direction is handled by Jananath Warakagoda.
