Serious concerns expressed by the Government of India over the continued holding of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in camps prompted the Government to carry out a review of the ongoing process.

The government has imposed restrictions on Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan opening more political offices under the name of the Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (Tamil People’s Liberation Tigers) in the Eastern Province.
