Increased revenue across several segments contributed to a 37% increase in net profit for the Ceylon Theatres PLC Group for the nine months ended 31 December 2009 over the corresponding period in 2008.
According to the company’s financial statements released this week, profit for the period under review increased to Rs.638 million from Rs.467 million. Revenue increased by 6% to Rs.28 billion while gross profit improved by 17% to Rs.3.5 billion.
The profits from the company’s food and beverage sector increased to Rs.344 million for the nine months ended 31 December 2009 from Rs.203 million the previous year. Profits from the ceramics and tiles sector, plantations and packaging sectors also increased.
The real estate sector made a loss of Rs.145 million for the current period compared to a profit of Rs.13 million in 2008. The company’s entertainment sector also showed a loss of Rs.1.3 million in comparison to a profit of Rs.1.7 million the previous year. |
