Gen. Fonseka |
Fonseka who was elected to Parliament from the Colombo district is the leader of the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) and this position will entitle him for a front row seat along with other senior members in the opposition
While all party leaders will be entitled to front row seats on whichever side of the House they are on, seating for other members will be allocated on the basis of seniority, Parliament officials said.
This time, at least 27 government members will be allocated seats on the opposition benches given the large majority the UPFA had won in this general election.
Each side of the House can accommodate only 116 members but this time the UPFA has secured 143 or 144 seats. However the front row on that side will be only for opposition members. |
