50th wedding anniversary

Retired Consultant Pictures Editor of the Sunday Times Dunstan Wickremaratne and his wife Greta celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently amidst a large gathering of family and friends. The picture shows the couple cutting the cake surrounded by family, (l-r): Charitha, Sadeesh, Shaveen, Hirush, Priyanthi and Sharmalee.

Book presentation

Bernard Silva, author and Justice of the Peace is seen here presenting his 40th book 'New Workbook Grade Nine English' based on the 2010 new syllabus to the Archbishop of Colombo Dr. Malcolm Ranjith at the Archbishop's House recently.

Banding together for night of music

The senior Western Band of S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia will present their second musical concert "Music Of the Night" at the College main hall on September 9 at 7 p.m. This performance will showcase the band's dynamism, stamina and versatility.

The Lower School Band, Hewisi Band and the Chamber Orchestra will also be performing at this event. A group of girl musicians from Bishop's College Colombo and the Western Band of St. Peter's College will provide guest performances. Renowned vocalist Joy De Alwis, an old boy will add colour to this event.

Tickets will be available at the college office, and at the entrance.

Corea family reunion

iving as we are in the rat race where people can hardly find time for each other, just last weekend, there was a completely different picture when a family re-union brought its members together.

The Corea family that hails from Chilaw and has produced freedom fighters, members of the Legislative Council, State Council, House of Representatives, the diplomatic corps and professionals in many fields, are knit together by an active family union.

The Annual General Meeting of the Edirimanne Corea Family Union and Members' Day-Out was held at the Leisure Lounge of the 'Ambalama' in Hanwella and the old and the young took their chance to meet, greet, unwind, relax and carry home memories of the warmth and intimacy of a family legacy. Singing, dancing and games replete with prizes and surprises filled the air.
Nearly one-hundred members of the Corea family met to elect the following Office Bearers for 2010/2011 :
