Debate on Rs. 20 b. for new Defence HQ

Parliament will debate on Wednesday the request for approval of a Rs 20 billion supplementary estimate for the building of the new Defence Headquarters in Battaramulla.

The estimate was presented to Parliament last month under the name of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is the Minister of Defence.

Meanwhile an adjournment debate on the prevailing security situation in the north and east will also be held in Parliament this week. This motion has been handed over by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA)
The debate on the monthly motion to extend the state of emergency will be held on Tuesday.
