The first-ever Sri Lankan film on cricket, ‘Sinhawalokakanaya’ directed by Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa was felicitated by the Sri Lankan community in Hollywood recently.
Asian Film and Drama Foundation, a first Sri Lankan film circuit which is releasing local films in Hollywood gave the four awards in recognition of the film’s contribution to the country’s film industry. The foundation gave Best Direction award to director Suresh Malinga Lokuhewa, Best Film to two producers Pasan Chandrasekara and Ravi Hanz and two merit awards to Sri Lankan cricket captain T. M. Dishan who made a guest appearance and the main actor Dilon Jayasinghe.
Following the felicitation in Hollywood, ‘Sinhawalokanaya’ film team held a ceremony to appreciate the contribution made to all the artistes involved in the film, distributors and the media at National Film Corporation recently.
Sinhawalokana is a joint production by Rohan de Silva, Pasan Chandrasekara, Ravi Hans and Dilan Lamb.
The film is performed by a massive cast including some of the veterans together with a large number of new comers to the big screen. The lead role in the movie is played by newcomers Delon Jayasinghe, young Raini Charuka Gunathilaka and others in the stellar cast comprised of Sanath Gunathilaka, Maurine Charuni, Dilhani Ashokamala Ekanayake, Kusum Renu, Kanchana Mendis, Damitha Abeyratne, Cleatus Mendis, Palitha Silva, G.R.Perera, Jayalal Rohana, Kumara Thirimadura, Sarath Kothalawala, Pubudu Chaturanga, Menaka Rajapaksha, Udayanthi Nirushika Kulathunga and Sadani Sulakna.
The story and screenplay is by Suneth Malinga, dialogue by Kapila Kumara Kalinga, art direction is by Eheliyagoda Somathilaka. It is edited by Praveen Jayaratne and music direction is by Rukatha Gunatillake and Ravi Hans. |
