Tyronne as 'friendly messenger'
Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando, who has offered himself as a candidate for the UN Secretary General post, has been called upon by the visiting External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha to act as a 'friendly messenger' in the Indo-Pakistan conflict.

Minister Fernando who is due to fly to Pakistan today said , "Minister Sinha wanted me to convey to President Pervez Musharraf and other leaders that although cross border terrorism had declined, the camps had not been dismantled" He had been urged to request Pakistani leaders to withdraw to close down the camps in the vicinity of the border.

At a news briefing Mr. Sinha said India did not see Sri Lanka 's relations with Pakistan as any obstruction to a strong relationship with India.
