Here
comes the stunning bride
Dainty, dreamy and oh so romantic. That's the look for brides this
season, says well-known designer Purnima Abeyratne, who created
this special bridal spread for the Mirror Magazine.
"Pastel
pinks are back in fashion and flowers are woven into the costume
to complete that romantic look. The other trendy shades are avocado
and orchid and also a combination of ice-blues. Aqua shades are
very flattering to our Sri Lankan brown skins," explains Purnima.
Ivory, once
all the rage, is on its way out and the colour that's in now is
sugar-white. Sugar white? "Well, that's white with undertones
of brown and pink," says Purnima. Gold and caramel (a sort
of honey-gold) are also popular.
For traditional
brides like those who opt for the Kandyan saree, gold and copper
are in vogue.
Posies with
long stems are the bouquets for brides these days, with sheaves
also being increasingly seen.
