BMW for LTTE
A brand new BMW purchased through the vehicle permit issued to Tamil
Congress MP A. Vinayagamoorthy is believed to have been sent to
the Wanni for the use of the LTTE leadership.
The Sunday Times
learns that the vehicle permit had been sold to a Tamil businessman
who is involved in transportation of goods from Jaffna to Colombo
by sea. The permit was sold in exchange for a vehicle and the balance
in cash.
It is reported
that the LTTE had insisted it be given the BMW claiming that Mr.
Vinayargamoorthy was a TNA elected MP and the LTTE is entitled to
claim the vehicle. The permit of the vehicle continues to remain
in the name of Mr. Vinayagamoorthy. It was not clear whether the
businessman had paid the remaining cash although he had provided
Mr. Vinayagamoorthy with the vehicle.
Mr. Vinayargamoorthy
yesterday declined to make any comment but admitted he had sold
his car permit.
