Gazette on Sept 2 to lift LTTE ban
The proscription on the LTTE will be lifted by a Gazette notification due to be issued on on September 2, authoritative sources said yesterday.

The ban is being lifted keeping with the assuarance by the Government that the proscription will be lifted 10 days ahead of the talks with the LTTE in Thailand.

The LTTE was declared a proscribed organization in January 1998 after the bombing of the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.
