J.LO in row over 'Glow'
Jennifer Lopez is being sued in the US District Court, California over the launch of her perfume range "Glow". Glow Industries Inc, filed their case on August 7, accusing Lopez and her fragrance firm Coty Inc. of diluting their trade mark, unfair competition and violation of the Lanaham Act. Lopez launched her perfumes with a party in New York City in July.

Friday, August 16 marked 25 years since Elvis Presley, the king of rock 'n' roll died aged 42. Several events have been held around the world to celebrate the life of Elvis.

One such event was the launch of the "Mobile Graceland Tour" which began in Memphis, Tennessee and will travel across the US. The tour will feature a collection of Presley's most famous memorabilia, among them his US army jacket, some of his famous stage kits and a letter he received from President Richard Nixon.

Meanwhile the city of Memphis is holding a 9-day celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of the late star's death. His former wife Priscilla and daughter Lisa Marie are expected to attend the celebrations at some point of time.

Oasis resumed their tour of the US on Sunday, August 11, five days after Noel Gallagher suffered facial injuries in a road accident. Noel was travelling with two others in a taxi when it collided with another vehicle head-on in Indianapolis.

Liam Gallagher presented his brother Noel with a bunch of flowers on stage on Sunday, August 11 as Oasis returned to their live tour of the US. The Oasis concert held at the New York Roseland Ballroom was a sell-out.

'Colourblind' by Darius is the No: 1 song in the UK for the second consecutive week. The song encountered strong competition from 'In My Place' by Coldplay. Thanks to clever manipulation by the record company stocks of the Darius track held back a week earlier, were released last week ensuring buyers who could not get hold of the single ultimately picking it up last week and helping it hold on to the No: 1 spot. It's the 4th successive No: 1 in the UK this year. The other 3 tracks are 'Anyone of Us' - Gareth Gates, 'A Little Less Conversation' - Elvis (vs) JXL and 'Light My Fire' - Will Young. It's the first time since 1997 that 4 songs in succession have remained at the top of the UK chart. Those songs were 'Barbie Girl' - Aqua, 'Perfect Day' - Various Artists, 'Say Eh-Oh' - Teletubbies and 'Too Much' - Spice Girls.

'In My Place' by Coldplay is perhaps the best song to enter the chart this week. The song entered the chart at No: 2 and was the highest new entry of the week.

Coldplay emerged in summer 2000. Their first hit got into the top 20 in July last year and was titled 'Yellow'.

Chris Martin and his band will now release a new album and just ahead comes the track 'In My Place'. The vocals stand out clearly with the backing virtually taking a secondary role. With its sad melody 'In My Place' has become Coldplay's biggest hit todate.

'Like A Prayer' by Madhouse entered the chart at No: 3. Performing this Madonna hit is 20 year-old Dutch singer Buse. Her Euro dance mix has crossed to the UK from the continent.

Madonna caused a stir in some parts of the US when she released ' Like A Prayer' in 1989. But the Madhouse version is unlikely to get any share of the market in the US either on radio or sales. So it will be confined to Europe and some parts of Asia in Sri Lanka where it happens to be rather popular at the moment.

The song dominating Euro charts and the dance hit of this summer 'Around The World' by ATC checked into the chart at No: 15. Some analysts have been very critical of the song but then the public have shown an interest in buying the song performed by 4 members of ATC who hail from New Zealand, Australia, England and Italy.

The band Status Quo returned to the UK Top 20 for the first time in 12 years when their single 'Jam Side Down' debuted at No: 17 this week. The rock band was formed in 1968. During their 34 years together Status Quo has sold over 80 million records. They tried to take legal action against the BBC's Radio 1 for not playing their music. They then began playing in pubs and small venues. The current hit 'Jam Side Down' is the 37th top 20 hit for the group.

Gwen Stefani of the band No Doubt and Gavin Rossdale of the band Bush announced their wedding will take place on September 14 with two ceremonies in London. Stefani will wear a dress specially designed by John Gallianio.
