Protect
your hair from daily swimming
Daily
exposure to chlorine and water has a drying effect on the hair that
can lead to various problems: hair breakage, excess tangling and
a dull, lustreless appearance. The problem is compounded by the
necessity of shampooing daily to remove the chlorine. The following
hair care can be helpful.
1. Shampoo
with a mild shampoo formulated for dry damaged hair. Don't lather
up twice. Be sure to thoroughly rinse out all residue.
2. Apply a
conditioner after every shampoo. It will deposit a light film on
the hair to counteract dryness, add gloss and make it easier to
comb.
3. Wrap your
hair in a towel and gently pat dry, wet hair is very fragile and
easily damaged by vigorous rubbing.
4. Gently comb
the hair with a wide, blunt toothed comb. Never brush wet hair.
Work out tangles by combing gently, working from the tips toward
the scalp.
5. Wear a short,
simple hairstyle that requires minimum manipulation. If you must
colour, permanent wave, or chemically straighten your hair, have
it done by a professional hairdresser to minimize further damage.

Delights from Movenpick
By Thiruni Kelegama
It is hot and hu- mid out there... ever felt as if you
want to indulge yourself? Indulge yourself in something cool and
heavenly tasting?
Well, what
could be better than ice cream! And what better place to have ice
cream than Movenpick.
Opened on July
11, last year, Movenpick indeed is the best ice cream Switzerland
has to offer. With a variety of flavours such as the Espresso Croquant,
Maple Walnut, Tiramasu, Vanilla Brownie, and a number of other flavours
that can tempt any sweet tooth, Movenpick certainly is the leading
ice cream around.
"Movenpick
is a premium Swiss ice cream with a global positioning of about
30 - 40 companies," says Nirosh de Mel, the owner of Movenpick
Sri Lanka, who is also the proprietor of Walauwa restaurant.
"It was
a challenge," says Nirosh.
"We wanted
to go that extra mile, to give the best to all our customers."
At the moment,
Movenpick offers only ice cream, coffee and a variety of sandwiches,
but soon they will be introducing a number of hot dishes. "We
will be adding Burgers, French Fries, Chicken Kebabs, and some other
dishes to the menu, so that people would be able to have an entire
meal here. We want to promote a cafe type of atmosphere," explains
Nirosh.
Movenpick has
a variety of ice creams on their set menu. There is the Belle Helene,
which is made using chocolate and vanilla ice cream with pears,
chocolate sauce and whipped cream. This is topped with a chocolate
sliver, wafer roll and seasonal garnish.
There is also the Peche Melba, Danemark and the Dolce, the Choco-
Banana and finally the greatest of them all... the Big One. This
is made using six ice cream flavours of your choice, with seasonal
fruits, whipped cream and almond waffle cornets.
And for all
coffee lovers out there... there is the Cappuccino Sundae, made
using espresso croquant ice cream, maple walnuts and vanilla ice
cream with meringue, whipped cream and chocolate sauce.
Then there
is the famous ice coffee, which can set your taste buds tingling
for weeks after.
You can also
experiment with the fabulous range of coffee which Movenpick is
renowned for. There is the Espresso, Caravelas South America, which
comes from the largest coffee producers in the world, Kauai Hawaii.
And that is
not all. There are the cold coffees, the Floating coffee and the
Flavoured Coffee of which there are the likes of the Viennese Coffee
with Chocolate, Cinnamon or Hazelnut.
Oh yes... this
is certainly paradise for all coffee addicts and those with a sweet
tooth. So go ahead, indulge yourself.
