air, Sebs Media
The media society of St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa conducted
a radio broadcast through 96.1 FM recenly for the 53rd annual encounter
betwen St. Sebastian's College and Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa.
The members
of 'Sebs Media' conducted request shows broadcasting songs requested
mainly by the College youth and the music fans of Moratuwa, Panadura,
Mount Lavinia, Dehiwela and other close by areas .
'Ball- by-
Ball' live commentaries of the highly anticipated one-day encounter
between Sebs and Cambrians was broadcast also by the 'Sebs Media'
under the name "De Vibez Radio".
"This
project was a total success thanks to the co-operation provided
by our Princiapl Rev. Bro. Walter Goonetilleke, staff and the students
of the College" said the President Charitha Nuwan Mendis.
'Sebs Media'
Society was able to complete this annual project successfully under
the leaderhip of our President Charitha for the second time.
"Also
our other projects including the music request show "Icon Ecos"
broadast to the students every morning and weekly. English news
bulletins bringing the students upto date news on what's happening
in the schoool and in Moratuwa. The news is presented by trained
students of the junior and senior news units of 'Sebs Media'. The
reporters are appointed to cover various fields including college
news, sports and latest on the entertainment scence so that every
field is covered extensively." Charitha added.
A monthly magazine
is the next goal of the ' Sebs Media' . All the latest activities

romantic Club Oceanic is back

After twenty long years, the beautiful beach strip
of silver sands from Trinco to Nilavelli has opened for the real
holiday makers.
The popular Club
Oceanic Hotel, located at the Sampaltivu Post, Uppuveli about just
3 km north of Trincomalee Town, has opened for the real holiday
makers. Its This would be good news for Sri Lankan travellers as
the mad rush on East Coast has now eased and the real holiday traffic
is on the move.
The Hotel came
under the John Keells flag in the year 1994. It came in to operation
in April 1995 was forced to closed again due to the terrorist problems,
which resulted in a closure in November 1995, just seven months
after its opening.
Wth the Peace
Talks,the John Keells Group of Companies, who have a substantial
investment in the hotel sector made an immediate decision to invest
over Rs. 50 million to refurbish the Club Oceanic Hotel, Trincomalee.
This was disclosed
by Sri Lal Mendis, the director -General Manager of the Hotel at
the press conference held last week at the hotel premises.
"This
is due to the Government's initiative of developing the North and
the East and the present environment in the country , which will
increased demand for Sri Lanka as a tourist destination. "
he said.
The Club Oceanic
Hotel opened their all 56 rooms last Friday, after a closure in
last November for a major refurbishment programme, since its inception
two decades ago.
Set amidst
the pure white sands and the blue waters of the ocean, "Club
Oceanic" is an additional boost to the tourist industry, as
it is one of the few hotels offering star class services on the
east coast.
The 56 rooms
in Club Oceanic range from 19 standard bedrooms, 20 superior rooms,
16 beach chalets and one suite, all fully air conditioned with private
telephone and television.
The Hotel's
sports activities includes a swimming pool, a pool bar, Volleyball,
Badminton, Table Tennis and a variety of other board games. The
hotel's chalets watersports activities such as Diving, Surfing and
Snorkelling will be the attraction of any holiday maker since the
hotel's private beach came alive with activities.
