Red, Blue alliance has gone for a ride once again
The two Red sahodarayas, Tilvin and Wimal were discussing the latest developments. They had just returned after a meeting with the Blues where they were told that any plans of an Alliance would have to wait…

"I think they took us for a ride, Wimal sahodaraya…" Tilvin said.
"But what would they gain by that?" Wimal wanted to know.
"Why, we have been weakened…" Tilvin argued.
"I am not so sure about that…" Wimal countered.

"Why, we neglected our organization in the hope that we would be able to strike up an alliance with the Blues…"
"But we are still a force to be reckoned with…"
"Yes, sahodaraya, but under this proportional representation system, we will never get to form a government of our own…" Tilvin pointed out.

"That may be true," Wimal said, "but we should thank JRJ for that…"
"Why is that?" Tilvin was surprised.
"Why, if we still had the first-past-the-post system we won't have more than a handful of seats whereas we now have quite a respectable number…"

"That is quite true," Tilvin agreed, "but even if we are thankful to the Greens we should never be thankful to the Blues…"
"Why is that?"
"The Blues have betrayed us four times now…"

"Why do you say that?"
"Why, the first instance was in Seventy One, when we were slaughtered and imprisoned by the Blues…"
"Ah, yes then there was the occasion when we were taken for a ride by Satellite herself who promised to abolish the Presidency in six months and we withdrew from the election…"

"And then a couple of years ago she said she could carry on with our support when we put them on probation but she couldn't do it for long…"
"And now, for a fourth time, we are waiting for an alliance and she suddenly changes her mind…"
"Who do you think is behind all this, Sahodaraya?"
Tilvin asked.

"I suppose it is the Southerner who thinks he will be upstaged by us…"
"But what should we do now?"
"Sahodaraya," Wimal said, "you should start by learning to speak less with your hands…"

"Then," Tilvin retorted, "you should start using words that are understood by people when you make your speeches…"
"We could of course always call for a few more strikes and cripple the workplaces…"
"Or get the campuses closed for a few more months…"

"Or else," Wimal suggested, "there is another strategy…"
"And what is that, Sahodaraya?"
"We can try to have the Brother installed as the next Blue boss; he has always supported the idea that we should work together…" "That is a tempting idea…" Tilvin agreed, "but there is a problem with that…"

"What is that?"
"Why, sahodaraya, whatever side he is on is almost certainly guaranteed to lose…" Tilvin argued.
"Then," Wimal said, "there is only one way…"

"Which is?"
"To play the 'deshapremi' card once again and protest against what is happening in the North and East…"
"I am not so sure about that…" Tilvin said.

"Why, sahodaraya?"
"Because the people are already calling us the 'jaathiya vikunana peramuna'…"
Wimal sahodaraya said nothing in reply.
