Kandy
by night
By Shane Seneviratne
The Presidential guards were on what appeared to be an undercover
mission last evening at the Hantana Hills in Kandy. Puzzled visitors
watched on and were told they were cleaning the undergrowth as an
opposition MP of cricketing fame had purchased the land.
The men who
were armed with rubber gloves, boots and mechanized grass cutters
wanted the onlookers to move away.
While nothing
else was said by the top brass it appeared that the whole exercise
had nothing to do with the ex-cricketer. But another connected with
the group whispered that the real reason, "just so that the
kids can have a scenic view of Kandy by night." |
