TNL’s Four Play for the festive season
This season TNL Radio has planned four exciting live events that will guarantee fun seekers their share of thrills. Called TNL Four Play the four events will be unique in concept.

Kicking off the action was The Last Flight to Bombay, which focused on the exceptional culture of India that has fused harmoniously with other cultures. Held on November 22 at My Kind of Place, Taj Samudra, Colombo, this show was an Indian-influenced extravaganza.

The second event, Flashback, to be held on November 29 will be based on the ‘Retro’ theme with music from bygone years. The atmosphere will be of the colourful 1970s when Woodstock, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Flower power and free wheeling life were the order of the day. Thrill seekers will be encouraged to dig out their widest bell bottoms, their most psychedielic gear, drape those beads and tease their hair into the wildest Afros, as they bop to the sounds that made the 1970s and 1980s memorable.

The grand era of the 1980s when the music of Bruce Springsteen, Billy Ocean, Dire Straits and Madonna ruled, when shoulder pads, big hairdos and plastic jewellery held sway will be paid tribute to. The evening promises to be a wistful, reflective look at one of the greatest periods the music world has seen.

The third event Simplicity features an All Star band comprising members from popular outfits. This will be an unplugged and electric performance of their talent. Candles and soft drapes will provide the necessary ambience.

Finally Flipside will feature a reversal of the music 101.7 has come to be identified with. It will feature funky, contemporary sounds with dance music thrown in for added flavour. The theme will be grunge, so those who want to adopt the Courtney Love look can let their adventurous spirits free because this is the night to get down and dirty. There will be two bands in attendance. More information on TNL’s Fore Play can be obtained from TNL Radio Network, 52, 5th Lane, Colombo 3.
