PM
upbeat on talks with President
By Athula Bandara
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday more talks would
be held with the President this week and he was optimistic about
the outcome.
Addressing
a ceremony to unveil the pinnacle of the Padavisripura Rajamaha
Viharaya, the Premier stressed his government's number one priority
was to restore peace in the country.
He said it
was time to shed political differences and work together to develop
the country. Acknowledging that there were weaknesses and setbacks
in the ceasefire and the peace process, the Premier said it should
be remembered that the government was dealing with one of the most
dangerous organisations which had been involved in a deadly war.
In a significant
move, the Prime Minister invited the North Central Province's PA
Chief Minister, Berty Premalal Dissanayake, to unveil the pinnacle
for which the 'Chuda Manikkiya' was gifted by the President. |
