Minister hits out at UNF budget
Up Country People's Front leader P Chandrasekeran yesterday hit out at the Government for failing to give a wage hike to estate workers through the budget.

In a statement, Minister Chandrasekeran said estate workers had again been ignored, possibly because it was not election time. He said that while the workers were still getting a bad deal, top posts were being offered to trade unionists.

Mr. Chandrasekaran was the second minister to attack the budget proposals a day after Minister T. Maheswaran charged that the budget gave little or nothing for the rebuilding and development of the north.
