Premier Final: Colts vs Bloomfield
Bloomfield sail into final
By Marlon Fernandopulle
Bloomfield booked a place in the Premier league final when they beat NCC on the first innings and consolidated their position at 226 for 2 wickets in their second innings at the end of the second day's play in their semi-final at Havelock Park yesterday.

Requiring 214 runs for a first innings win, NCC never looked like reaching that total as they were undone first by the medium pacers Dharshana Gamage and Udara Warna and later by part time bowler Thilakaratne Dilshan. After the Bloomfield medium pacers reduced the NCC top order to 30 for 3 wickets, Dilshan did the rest when he scalped up four wickets to bowl out NCC for just 148 runs.

Enjoying a lead of 65 runs Bloomfield led by a fine unbeaten century from Saman Jayantha (110 n.o.) annihilated NCC's chances further as they reached 226 for the loss of two wickets. Jayantha who reached his century off 116 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and two sixes was involved in an unbroken 3 rd wicket stand of 102 runs with Dilshan (41n. o.). Earlier opener Tharaka Gunaratne chipped in with a half century.

Colts run riot to make 427/3
By M. Shamil Amit
An unbeaten 152 in 226 balls by Sajith Fernando and another 126 runs by Shantha Kalavitigoda enabled Colts to make a massive 427 for 3 at the end of the second day's play in reply to Galle CC's score of 134 in their Premier League Division One semi final cricket encounter at the NCC grounds.

Sajith and Shantha made merry and thrashed the hapless Galle bowlers to all corners of the field with Sajith cracking 20 boundaries and two sixes in his unbeaten knock while Shantha's knock was made in 202 balls which had 15 hits to the ropes and three over it.

Colts resuming on their overnight score of nine for no loss were given a sound start by openers Kalavitigoda and Dulip Samaraweera who put on 78 runs before the dismissal of Dulip for 37 made in 64 balls which had five boundaries. Kalavitigoda who was joined by Sajith continued the good work with another solid partnership of 157 runs in just 222 balls.
