Sports Wing invites Ian Botham
By Chris Kamalendran
Ian Botham, the former England cricket skipper, currently in Sri
Lanka involved with the expert commentators panel for TV, has been
invited by the LTTE Sports Wing to conduct a day's coaching camp
in Kilinochchi on Tuesday. Ian Botham yesterday confirmed that there
was a move to get him down, but a final decision had not been taken
on the matter.
The Sports
Wing leader, 'Papa' has sent the invitation to Botham prior to his
arrival in Colombo. The Sunday Times learns that the LTTE has arranged
students and Cricket club members in Wanni to attend this coaching
camp to be held in Kilinochchi in a ground located alongside the
A9 highway.
The LTTE Sports
Wing has also organized an exhibition football match in Botham's
honour, between two local teams in Kilinochchi at 4.00 p.m. (LTTE
time) at the same grounds. The two teams participating are the Mannar
Pallimunnai team and Vattakachchi Lucky Star team. |
