Seemamalakaya jubilee stamp issued
A commemorative postage stamp in the denomination of Rs. 4.50 to mark the completion of 25 years of service of the Sri Jinaratana Vocational Training Centre was issued yesterday.

This issue by the Postal Department also marks the golden jubilee of the 'Seemamalakaya' of the Gangarama Temple. The ceremonial issue of the stamp with the picture of the Gangarama Seemamalakaya was held last evening at the Seemamalakaya.

Around 3,000 children are currently being trained in about 50 varying trades by 45 skilled teachers at the Sri Jinaratana Vocational Training Centre. The Seemamalakaya built nearly a century ago had been renovated and reopened on February 10, 1979.
