New
IGP takes office tomorrow
The new Inspector General of Police Indra de Silva is to assume
office tomorrow, as the 28th Inspector General of Police.
Tuiyalage Indrasiri
de Silva, who had his education at Dharmasoka Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda,
entered the University of Peradeniya and obtained Second Class Honours
in Bachelor of Arts in Geography.
He joined the
Sri Lanka Police in December 1971 as an Assistant Superintendent
of Police and had served in many parts of the country. As an SP
he had served in Vavunia, Police Higher training, Director Police
Headquarters.
After he was
promoted to the rank of Senior Deputy Inspector General in 2000,
he also served in Uva, Western Province (South) and Sabaragamuwa,
and headed the Administrative Division. Before he was appointed
the acting IGP in October, he was serving as the head of the Rangers.
Indra de Silva
is also a lecturer of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute and Steering
Committee Member of the National Integration Programme. |
