By Aaysha Cader
Keep your fingers crossed, the news is that Brian Adams might just be the one to rock Sri Lanka on the 10th of February. The event is being organized by Showdiff Worldwide, an Indian company in strategic partnership with Rediffusion DY & R. Officials from the speculated venue for the gig CR & FC, state that negotiations were under way, but declined to confirm the concert until the deal has been finalized with the show's Indian organizers.

Showdiff Worldwide is an India-based talent and development company promoted by former Indian test cricketer Ravi Shastri. Bryan Adams Live in Colombo will be its first international event.

Mr. Jaiveer Singh Panwar, vice-president (marketing) of Showdiff Worldwide when contacted by the Sunday Times in India said that the show is set to go on stage on the 10th of February 2004 at the CR & FC grounds.

Local sponsors of the event are yet to be finalized, but Panwar assures that ticket prices will be "reasonable and very affordable." As to why Sri Lanka was chosen to stage this mega event, he said that they felt that Lankans were inclined towards the Western music industry, and that such a concert would be a boost to local music enthusiasts.

Canadian artiste Brian Adams has rocked the music charts for over a decade with worldwide hits such as 'Summer of '69' and 'Have you ever loved a woman' among others. The artiste's official website www.brianadams.com reports the Colombo gig as part of his India/Gulf tour of 2004, with 2 concerts scheduled for India on February 7 and 8, after which he will head to Colombo.

Concerts are also scheduled for the UAE, Qatar and Jordan from the 11th of January onwards. Mr. Panwar told The Sunday Times that he will visit Colombo on January 5 in order to finalize the deal.
