‘Home
Sweet Home’ for Patrick
After 35 years living in England, Ireland and America, singer Patrick
Ellis returns on a short visit with his family and friends, to what
he calls “Home Sweet Home”
‘I
was born, educated and had a cherished upbringing, but risk taking
and a daring attitude to life acted as a springboard to his future
successes” he said. He studied Mechanical & Production
Engineering, but ended up in the sharp end of business.
Yet,
Patrick Ellis is no ordinary guy now, an internationally famous
author of the bestseller, Who Dares Sells, and Pay Up. He has trained
and coached people from all walks of life and various disciplines
(including a nuclear submarine officer).
He
has been featured on TV, Radio, Newspapers and Magazines and is
known around the world for his music, books and business acumen,
but in his unmistakably Sri Lankan simplicity.
“I
am a very ordinary guy with an extraordinary track record. My family
and extended family are all doctors, intellectual giants in the
sphere of academia, predominantly medicine, but I have grown to
become accomplished in the use of the written word, the spoken word
and the sung word - you have to engage with me to know the true
nature of who I am - I believe I am second to none when it comes
to business, music or whatever I go for.’ Patrick said.
‘I
have never lost my head on my accomplishments and never will, but
I have my own idiosyncratic style of achieving things.’ His
originally self-published book, the International Bestseller, Who
Dares Sells, which is still selling exceptionally well after he
published it in 1991, with over 110,000 copies sold, speaks for
itself.
‘I
have just completed a 17 song CD Album, songs made famous by Elvis,
Tom Jones, Cliff Richards, Brian Adams, Michael Ball, Ricky Valance’
he added. In the album there is one song in particular I re-wrote
and sang - The Green Green Grass of Home by kind permission of Curly
Putnam (the original songwriter) and Warner Chappel, the publisher,
with particular reference to Sri Lanka and my connections with her.
It
also happened that when I was travelling to Los Angeles last year,
I met Tom Jones personally (who originally sang the Green Green
Grass of Home which is a classic all over the world). My CD is not
available for sale and is like “gold dust”, it can only
be given as a gift from me to the recipient and there is a very
limited number available. ‘Whoever needs my assistance to
succeed, if they ask, I will always respond to them in whatever
way I can. May good Fortune Bless Sri Lanka and all her inhabitants.”
