dance, music and song of Tinseltown
Audiences in Colombo are in for a musical treat when ‘A Night
In Tinsel Town’ , a grand musical production of instrumentals,
dances and songs and a dramatized item goes on the boards at the
Bishop's College auditorium on Friday January 16 and Sunday the
18th.
The
performing artistes are mainly youngsters who have achieved merit
in different fields, ensuring a show that is both colourful and
full of youthful energy, says director Jith Peiris.
The
orchestra and some of the singers will be the students of Menaka
Sahabandu while the instrumental items will be performed by students
of Surekha Amerasinghe. The dancers are choreographed by the dynamic
Manik Neydorf. Guest performances will see Penny Ferdinand, Shenelle
Fernando, Samantha Ferdinand and not surprisingly Angela Senevirathne,
Chandana De Silva and a host of others taking the stage.
The
Broadway theme will be captured by songs of "Hit Musicals"
of yesteryear and the dance items of the 1920s-the Charleston, an
elegant top hat and tails dance and yet another from a well-known
musical.This production directed by Jith Pieris will be in aid of
the charity SUROL (Society for the Upliftment and Rehabilitation
